Top 5 Things I Learned at the Cooper River Bridge Run

April 7th, 2013

kiss bridge runI ran the Cooper River Bridge Run for the first time this weekend, and I learned few things along the way …

1) Nobody should ever wake up at 4:30am to do anything, especially run a 10k.

2) The Bridge Run is as much of an agility drill as it is a race because you spend a lot of time bobbing and weaving people that decide to stop running.

3) Contrary to what you may feel during the race, it eventually does end.

4) Once you make it to the top of the bridge, it really is all downhill from there.

5) People from Kenya are really fast. The winner (Simon Ndirangu) finished at 28:05!

PS – Some people dressed up as KISS, and a random woman was posing with them. I helped myself to a picture at the same time as this woman’s friend. I’m not sure what the social etiquette policy is on that, but I think the more pressing question involves whether or not KISS ran in those shoes!
